If you are a regular London day-tripper have you considered an Oyster card?  You will probably need to sort this out before you travel, but you can load money in advance and use all underground, DLR and buses in London. 

No matter how many times you use the card in one day, Transport for London guarantee you will never pay more than the Travelcard fare.  Up to 4 children under 11 can travel free with every adult using an Oyster card.  Oyster card holders are also eligible for discounts on some London attractions and West End shows.  Visit tfl.gov.uk/oyster for up to date offers and more information.

The main thing to remember when using an Oyster card is to always ‘touch in’ and ‘touch out’ and whatever card you chose, always travel off peak (after 9.30).
