WHAT'S ON...
Autumn 2010

Are you fed up not knowing what to do or where to go with the family at the weekends or at holiday times?

Tired of finding out about great days out...after they have happened? Bored with going to the same places again and again?

If so you are going to love the Monkey Tree what's on diary!

In this section we have put together a comprehensive list of specific events to enable you to plan what to do and where to go with the family in London, West Essex, Hertfordshire, Central London, Redbridge and the surrounding areas whatever the weather.

The larger events at established venues are listed below in the main diary in date order to enable you and your children to easily plan ahead. By clicking on the different underlined links in the diary you can search for the venues that you like, search for an inside or an outside event depending on the weather forecast (check out our 5 day weather forecaster on the home page) and by clicking on the event title learn more about the event itself.

Note: Whilst every effort is made to ensure information included is correct and up to date, responsibility is with the reader to check prior to attending any venues or events. Details are subject to change without notice.

Pumpkin fun at Willows Farm Village this autumn

Willows Farm Village, near St Albans is gearing up for its Pumpkin Festival which runs from Saturday 16th October to Sunday 31st October 2010.

10,000 pumpkin seeds were sown across four acres of field and every child who visits Willows is invited to choose their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.

Children can either carve their pumpkin at the farm and enter their creation into the daily competitions taking place with prizes up for grabs, or take their pumpkin home.

Families can also enjoy Willows Pumpkin Olympics, featuring the ‘Pumpkin Obstacle Race’, ‘Roll a Pumpkin’ and ‘Pumpkin Relay’ races, with a certificate given to all children taking part.
Willows farmer, Andrew Wolfe said: “It’s been an excellent season for growing pumpkins on the farm. We’re looking forward to the pumpkin-mania and seeing the different creations carved out of pumpkins by the children.

“But my favourite thing of all is seeing the smallest of children choosing the largest of pumpkins and to help them take it home we even provide a special pumpkin bag.

“After visiting our popular farmyard animals – full of rabbits, goats and piglets - be sure to check out the Pumpkin Animal Farm featuring a fantastic display of pumpkin figures shaped into all our farmyard favourites.”

Rain or shine, there is always an activity to entertain the family, from Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge, a new activity for 2010 where the Whites and Yolks teams dodge each other’s foam ball eggs fired from the egg cannons, to children’s shows in Woolly’s Showtime Theatre and fun filled play in Woolly Jumpers indoor play barn.

Pumpkin Olympics takes place daily at 3pm with children’s pumpkin judging at 3.45pm, as well as a full day’s programme of children’s shows, adventure play, fun fair rides and animals to enjoy.
