Visit a city farm. London’s city farms are community projects that work with people, animals and plants. They are found throughout the capital and are normally free to enter. The nearest to our area is Brooks Farm, E10, which is a semi working farm with traditional livestock. As farming is seasonal, you can expect to see different animals on every visit. During school holidays there are organised children’s activities, with every Wednesday being messy play for under 5’s. Please telephone the farm to book a place or to request more information.Brooks Farm, Skelton’s Lane Park, E10 Tel 020 8539 4278 or www.walthamforest.gov.uk/brooks-farm-leyton.htm. Harlow Town Park is a lovely 164 acre site in Harlow with a large and popular Pets’ corner. The animals are very friendly and offer children a chance to meet them and enjoy their company. For the past 10 years Pets’ corner has been running its own programme to ensure that some of the country’s oldest and rarest animals don’t disappear.
