Stage School
Stage School celebrates 77 years of success!!!
The Finch Stage school is looking forward to 2010 with great excitement as the school will celebrate 77 years of teaching local children. The school which currently holds classes in Loughton and Dagenham opened back in 1933. Holding over 100 pupils ranging upwards from the age of 2, children take part in classes on a weekly basis, learning the skills of Ballet, Tap, Modern, Streetdance, Drama and Singing classes all of which are taught by professional teachers who have many years of success and expertise within the business. The school not only provides the children with fun and professional training but gives them the chance to keep fit and make lifelong friends too. Many past pupils are now returning with their own children which is a clear indication of the enjoyment and memories that these pupils remember and now wish for their own children to experience.

The school holds a yearly show every July at the Queens Theatre Hornchurch, which is the highlight of their dancing year. They eagerly and excitedly await show-time and each year the audience is wowed with breathtaking routines and an evening of entertainment which could grace any West End Stage.  Pupils are also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to undertake exams once a year to further their training and to take part in Summer schools and workshops in which they have the chance to be taught by West End theatre stars and choreographers.

The school has much to celebrate as a new year begins. Linda Finch, principal of the school is extremely proud of her school, and its many pupils both past and present. Pupils are currently appearing in West End shows such as Hairspray, Joseph, Love Never Dies, We Will Rock You and also in Disneyworld in Hong Kong. Past and present pupils are also currently performing in a variety of theatres both across the country and in fact the world. One past pupil who may have caught your eye in a variety of roles on TV or maybe from articles in recent Radio Times and Hello Magazines is local girl Michelle Dockery. Michelle recently received stunning reviews for her lead performance in ‘Turn of the Screw’ which was aired on BBC1 on New Year’s Day. However, despite her success Michelle remains grateful for her years of training at the school stating;

“The Finch Stage School is a wonderful environment for young people. Linda and her teachers nurture confidence and also develop individual talents. I owe so much to the school for my early development both as a person and as a professional.”  (Michelle Dockery 2010)

Many pupils have also gone on to achieve great success opening their own dancing schools, using their many years of training at the school as a foundation to pass on their knowledge and passion which derived from their training at The Finch Stage School.
